Don't you hate when you give so much of yourself and instead of being appreciative, some people just want more more more. Greedy and uncouth.

Katzi,

Thank you as well for the compliments!

Let me explain a little bit more about the specifics. I take the photos and post-process the best ones, then I upload them to the WordPress media library for Coy to choose from when creating her blog post. Some images don't get used, but might in some future post... but also might not. It's really her decision whether to share them or not.

This person decided to hunt for other images based on the file name of the ones posted (eg. img_4100.jpg would trigger attempts at img_4101.jpg, img_4102.jpg, etc). I could create new filenames, but even that wasn't enough one time (HNT bookworm post). I could create random names everytime, but I'm just lazy.

Thanks for the compliment! No harm at all... I'm sure it's done quite frequently.

I know it isn't quite the same behavior that you're talking about here, but I saved one of your public photos just because I thought it was such a perfect shot (not as spank material). Now I'm thinking I should have asked permission. Would you like me to delete it?

I would like to begin by commending you and your (obviously) Smart Alec on the terrific quality of the photography you feature on your site. It's very nice stuff, quite professional!

I'd also like to say that nobody should every have to feel violated, or feel exposed . . .

However, it's a lot more likely that somebody is going to feel violated or exposed if they forget to close the shades when they walk around their house naked . . . and unfortunately without a bit of internet savvy the same thing is true of blogging . . . if you've uploaded pictures that weren't to be shared into any of your public html folders . . . it's a bit like leaving a folder of your nude photos on the counter at Wal-Mart . . .

Any old "plain jane" web spider will show ALL files in your upload folders and other similar folders contained in the public html directory at your host . . . web spiders aren't nefarious in purpose . . . in fact they are great for looking at your own site for SEO . . . and also to see if you've got any private goodies on the equivalent of the counter top @ Wal-Mart . . .

please keep on blogging and sharing what you like . . . you are both beautiful and your pictures are a wonderful expression of your love for each other . . . but remember that just a little more vigilance in protecting your private files . . . will empower you to avoid ever having to feel exposed or violated again . . .

if you want to store your unposted pictures in a safe manner . . . it's best and safest not to leave them anywhere on a server . . . I'd suggest keeping anything you don't want to be seen by the general public on a password protected USB drive . . . USB storage is affordable . . . discrete . . . and MUCH more secure than leaving something you don't want out in public anywhere on a server . . .

Maybe I'm naive in the respect that I didn't even realise that this was even possible prior to reading this. But I'm shocked/appalled/disgusted that someone would try to do this (and not to you b/c you're my friend, but to anyone period).

This isn't JUST about respect, it's about common decency. I mean really, come on now. Who the hell do you think you are?!

I hope whoever it is, reads this or has read this & gets the (more than subtle) hint that the line has well and truly been crossed and s/he needs to stop. Right. Away.

I'm angry for you, and it begs the question has s/he been trying to do this on other blogs and we're just not aware of it? Grrr!

Damn. Some folks seem to be a bit slow to take a hint. Best to be direct in those cases. Sorry you are having to deal with this invasion.
BTW - I *love* what you've done with your 404 page. ^_^
